Originally developed to treat muscular disorders, DYSPORT is now widely used in over 20 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Israel, Germany and Russia, for aesthetic purposes. DYSPORT is made from the same botulinum toxin as Botox, and its efficacy may last up to 4 months compared to Botox's three. Furthermore, tests have shown that DYSPORT starts working within one to two days, while Botox kicks in in three to five days. Currently, Botox is offered in 100-unit vials, while DYSPORT is offered in 300-unit vials, making the preparation less expensive for doctors. Those savings are being passed on to patients who are always looking for ways to achieve youthfulness in a reasonably-priced way.

DYSPORT has been observed to spread farther from the injection site, which might be favorable. That means it would reduce the amount of injections required, which eventually amounts to savings, Marcelino said.
