Pixel Radio Frequency | Pre & Post Care

Pixel Radio Frequency Pre & Post Care

  • Not everyone is a candidate for RF Pixel. Your laser technician will properly assess your skin to see if you are a good candidate.
  • No sun exposure, self-tanning, or spray tanning 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • Must not be pregnant, nursing, under treatment for cancer.
  • Use of the following in the treatment area should be discontinued prior to treatment:
  • Retin-A / Retinol / Tretinoin: 5 days
  • Benzoyl Peroxide and any other harsh blemish treatments: 5 days
  • Accutane(Isotretinion): 6 months
  • Waxing, peels, laser, depilatory creams, microdermabrasion, etc. should be avoided 5-14 days prior.
  • CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR: with Anticoagulant use – may increase risk of bruising, history of coagulopathies, history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring, and/or diabetes – may impede wound healing.
  • Patients with a history of HSV to the treatment area should pre and post-treat with Valtrex antiviral.

RF Pixel Expectations

  • The skin is cleansed and prepped. In some cases, a topical numbing solution will be applied prior to treatment.
  • You will experience some discomfort during the treatment. The sensation is warm and a “zapping” sensation.
  • An appointment time lasts about 1 hour for the face, other body areas vary depending on size. The treatment itself is fairly quick ranging about 5-20 minutes depending on the area.

Post-Treatment Recommendations for RF Pixel

    • The area treated with the laser may be red afterward. This will generally fade within 2-3 days.
    • To ease discomfort, you may take Ibuprofen and use a cold compress or ice packs for 10-minute intervals for the first 24 hours. It is recommended to sleep slightly elevated to prevent swelling.
    • The treated area should be washed normally with mild cleanser and water. Wash the area gently with your fingertips. Do NOT use a washcloth or other abrasive instrument.
    • For the next 3-4 weeks, avoid sun exposure to the treated area. Use of sunscreen containing SPF of 30 or higher is recommended daily.
    • Avoid irritants such as products containing glycolic acid or Retin-A for 7-10 days.
    • Minor crusting or scabbing of the treated area can occur. Do not rub or pick the scab.
    • Avoid hot baths, hot showers, exercise, and massage for 48 hours.
    • You may use make-up on the treated area after 3 days.
    • DAY(s)_____: Gentle cleanser and topicals. Recommend: Obagi Gentle Cleanser, Biafine, and Aquaphor
  • DAY(s)_____: Gentle Cleanser and Replace Aquaphor with a heavy moisturizer and Sunscreen 30+. Recommend: SM TNS Ceramide Moisturizer or Obagi Hydrate. Obagi Sunshield or SM Total Defense & Repair
  • DAY(s)_____: Introduce normal or therapeutic cleansers. You may begin using other serums / advanced skin care regimens.  Recommend: TNS Essential Serum, Obagi Professional C products, Lytera, Nu Derm System.
